Sharon Anolik

Sharon A. Anolik is the Chief Privacy Official and Director of Corporate Compliance and Ethics for Blue Shield of California, where she is responsible for all activities related to the company's privacy program and Code of Business Conduct. Prior to Blue Shield, Sharon was a Privacy Specialist in the Enterprise Risk Management practice at Deloitte & Touche LLP, where she advised global companies on privacy issues. Before Deloitte, Sharon was Associate General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer for Ask Jeeves, where she spearheaded their practice and policy-making in the areas of privacy and legislative compliance. Sharon also served as a Judicial Clerk to the California Supreme Court and as an associate in private practice, where she represented numerous corporate and high-tech clients. A published author, frequent speaker and Certified Information Privacy Professional, Sharon also teaches Cyberlaw and Privacy at Golden Gate University School of Law. |

Jim Dempsey

Jim Dempsey is Vice President for Policy at the Center for Democracy and Technology, a non-profit public interest organization working to keep the Internet open, innovative and free. In recent years, Mr. Dempsey has concentrated on Internet privacy and national security issues, testifying frequently before Congress. He coordinates the Digital Privacy and Security Working Group, a forum for companies, trade associations and public interest organizations. From 1985 to 1994, he was assistant counsel to the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Civil and Constitutional Rights. Mr. Dempsey resides in San Francisco, where he is building CDT West, with the goal of promoting an Internet policy dialogue among technologists, business strategists, academics and public interest groups. |

| Alex Fowler |
Alex is a San Francisco-based consultant and business leader on challenges at the intersection of technology and society. For the past fifteen years, Alex has focused on underlying themes of data protection, technology policy, information risk management, and online community. As co-leader of PricewaterhouseCoopers' US privacy practice, Alex assisted a wide range of clients on privacy, security, and risk management, as well as developed strategic relationships with technology, security, and compliance providers. Prior to PwC, Alex was the Senior Director of Business Development and Information Policy for Zero-Knowledge Systems. He represented the company on policy matters in the US, directed its privacy practice, and played a key role in development of the first enterprise application for managing privacy. Alex began his career in Washington, DC with the American Association for the Advancement of Science managing projects on emerging social and policy issues associated with the Internet, in addition to studies on genetics and ethics. After seven years with AAAS, Alex joined the Electronic Frontier Foundation where he led programmatic activities associated with online privacy, cryptography, and intellectual property. Alex is a frequent speaker and commentator, and he has authored numerous articles. He holds degrees from Brown University and George Washington University. |
